Privacy

The short version: this site does not track you, and there is refreshingly little to write about.

What this site collects (almost nothing)

This site sets no cookies of its own. No analytics, no tracking pixels, no fingerprinting. No fonts, scripts or images are loaded from anyone else — every byte you receive comes from this domain. There are no embeds, no comment system, and no contact or newsletter forms. The only code that runs is the panorama viewer, and it runs entirely in your browser to draw the images; it reports nothing back to me or anyone.

Server logs — the one exception

Like any web server, the machine serving this site keeps access logs — for each request the time, the page, the response and a shortened IP address (the last block is dropped, so no full address is ever stored). They are kept for at most 14 days, exist only to operate and secure the site, and are never combined with anything else or used to identify you. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

The site sits behind Cloudflare as a content-delivery network and proxy: it terminates the encrypted connection, caches static files closer to you, and in doing so processes your IP address at its edge and may set a single technical cookie that distinguishes humans from bots. Cloudflare acts as a processor under a data-processing agreement; as a US provider it relies on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and the EU Standard Contractual Clauses for any transfer. Hosting itself is provided by Oracle Cloud, on a server in Frankfurt, Germany — within the EU.

The panorama viewer

As you pan and zoom a panorama, your browser fetches small image tiles on demand — all from this same domain. No third party is ever involved.

Links off this site

Where a page links out (for example to a video), that is an ordinary hyperlink — nothing is embedded. Follow it and you are on that third party's site, under their rules, not these.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can request access to, correction or deletion of any personal data, ask for its processing to be restricted, object to it, or receive it in a portable form — and you may complain to a data-protection supervisory authority. Given the above, there is realistically very little held about you to act on.
